[ARCHIVED] Maricopa County to Deliver Subpoenaed Election Materials to Arizona Senate

flag

Maricopa County is delivering additional 2020 election materials to the Arizona Senate this week as part of its compliance with a subpoena.

Over the past several months, the Maricopa County Elections Department has taken every precaution to ensure safety, security, and integrity of election materials subpoenaed by the Arizona Senate President and the Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. The Elections Department catalogued all of the equipment and ballots for delivery using manifest logs and chain of custody reports. All of the nearly 2.1 million voted ballots are accounted for and have been kept in a secure vault. The Elections Department is using large crates and customized racks specifically designed to store and transport certified tabulation equipment to ensure the safe transport of 385 taxpayer-funded Election Day tabulators and nine Central Count tabulators.

In coordination with the Senate’s designated liaison, the Elections Department will begin delivering those materials to the Arizona Veterans Memorial Coliseum this week. Tabulation equipment will be packaged and delivered on Wednesday, April 21, and ballots will be delivered on Thursday, April 22. The delivery of all materials will take two days and several trips because of the large amounts of ballots and equipment requested and the detailed documenting required to maintain chain-of-custody of that material.  Elections Department staff transporting materials will have the support of Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office personnel.  MCSO will also be present at the Elections Department to ensure the security of Election Department staff and all subpoenaed materials.

*There will also be a live stream camera showing the Ballot Tabulation area and the warehouse at Maricopa.Vote.

Maricopa County Elections Department previously turned over 11 gigabytes of data in response to the January 12 Arizona Senate subpoena.
