It isn't unusual for dogs to come to MCACC in pairs. Trios are a bit more uncommon and we certainly don't see many Chihuahua and American Pit Bull Terrier mix trios! What made this group even more unique was the fact that the Pittie mix was blind and relied heavily on her two Chihuahua friends. The little ones would curl up and cuddle with their bigger buddy. After a photo of the three in their kennel hit social media, we reached out to local television stations to help us find their owner.
Within hours of the story airing, an owner stepped forward. Unfortunately, the family was going through a very tough time and asked us to please try to find a home for their pets. This was a difficult decision, but we were honored that the entrusted us with the care of their beloved dogs. We found out that Lola was the American Pit Bull Terrier and her friends were Tiny and Teddy.
Another request to media and soon the dogs were once again on TV -- this time in search of a loving home where they could stay together. We realized that this would be a tough adoption. Many people can't take THREE dogs at one time. But we were thrilled with Christine and Scott from Mesa stepped forward. The couple saw the dogs on tv and knew immediately that they needed to adopt. We are happy to report that Lola, Teddy and Tiny are doing well.
